Adobe announced new Acrobat capabilities on September 9 built around its Productivity Agent, extending the software beyond PDF reading and editing into document analysis and content generation. The update can transform source material into visual reports, presentations and audio formats.

The agent can work across documents and connected data to extract key information and generate richer outputs without forcing users to rebuild the material manually in separate tools. Adobe is also adding enterprise capabilities intended to connect Acrobat with shared document repositories so employees can query and reuse organizational knowledge.

The release builds on the Productivity Agent Adobe introduced earlier this year, which already supported actions such as summarizing documents, generating presentations and creating audio overviews. The September update broadens those workflows and pushes Acrobat further toward an AI-assisted workspace rather than a static document viewer.

Some Acrobat AI features are rolled out in phases, so availability can vary by product tier and user. The practical significance is therefore less a single new assistant than the continued consolidation of document understanding, transformation and knowledge access inside Acrobat.
