Afferentis has introduced Somatis, an AI-first ERP platform designed to combine ERP selection, deployment and agent automation in one workflow. Rather than replacing the underlying ERP with a proprietary suite, Somatis says it evaluates supported open-source systems such as Odoo and ERPNext against a company’s requirements, deploys the selected software on customer-controlled infrastructure and then layers AI agents around the resulting system.\n\nThe product’s main differentiator is governance. Afferentis says agent actions that touch business data are authorized against policy rules, executed with least-privilege access and recorded in an audit trail, while higher-impact actions such as financial postings, deletions and permission changes require human approval. The company also advertises per-team and per-agent token budgets, cost attribution and observability for tool calls and decisions.\n\nSomatis is positioned for SMBs, mid-market companies and regulated organizations that want an open-source ERP core without giving an autonomous agent unrestricted access to operational or financial systems. The company says the deployment layer can provision infrastructure ranging from a single container to multi-region Kubernetes and can roll back failed deployments.\n\nThose are meaningful design claims, but they are still first-party claims. AiToolMap did not find a substantive independent review, benchmark or production reliability corpus for Somatis during this freshness check. Buyers should therefore treat the governance, rollback, portability and implementation-speed claims as product specifications to validate in a pilot rather than established third-party evidence.\n\nFor the broader AI-tool market, Somatis is another example of agent products moving from general assistants into systems-of-record workflows. The interesting part is not simply adding chat to ERP: it is the attempt to make agent authorization, auditability, budget control and human approval part of the deployment architecture from the start.

Afferentis introduces Somatis, an AI-first layer for selecting and running open-source ERP
Somatis is a new Afferentis product that recommends an open-source ERP, deploys it on customer-controlled infrastructure and adds policy-governed AI agents. The architecture is notable, but its security, deployment and cost-control claims are currently vendor-stated rather than independently validated.
