Baidu has launched DuMate as a general-purpose desktop agent for everyday productivity.
Unlike a conventional chatbot, DuMate is designed to operate across applications and files. Baidu says it can organize local documents, read and write Excel files, prepare presentations, work with data and control a browser while carrying out multi-step tasks.
That places DuMate in the growing category of desktop execution agents: products that are expected to do work inside the user’s environment rather than simply explain how the work should be done.
