Anthropic has added detachable panes to the Claude Code desktop app. A diff, terminal or other pane can be moved into its own operating-system window and later docked back into the main application.
The change is aimed at multi-window and multi-monitor workflows: Anthropic's developer account specifically shows a diff or terminal moved to a second screen while Claude continues working in the primary window. Sessions can also be arranged side by side or stacked.
The announcement does not specify a separate plan requirement, rollout percentage or persistence behavior for window layouts. AiToolMap therefore records only the demonstrated pane and session-layout behavior rather than inferring broader desktop-window management features.
For AiToolMap, this is a minor Claude Code usability update. It changes how developers monitor parallel work and review outputs on the desktop, but it does not establish a new model capability or independent performance improvement.
