ElevenLabs released Music v2.5 on September 11 and made it the default model for prompted and reference-based generation in ElevenMusic. Music v2 remains available.

The company says v2.5 produces more layered arrangements and more natural-sounding instruments. Its published evaluation used 47,885 same-prompt output pairs and found v2.5 preferred more often, with the largest reported gains in vocal-led and acoustic-heavy genres. ElevenLabs did not publish the exact preference percentage, so AiToolMap treats this as vendor-reported evidence rather than an independent quality benchmark.

The release also changes the practical product surface. Lossless downloads are now available on every ElevenMusic plan: Free includes five per day and Pro includes 400 per month. Tracks created on Free can be used commercially with ElevenMusic attribution, while tracks built from another artist's song cannot be downloaded. Rights attached when a track is created are retained if the user later cancels or downgrades.

Music v2.5 is also live in ElevenCreative, Flows and the ElevenLabs Music API under the model identifier music_v2_5. That makes this a material update to the existing ElevenLabs product rather than a separate AiToolMap tool. It is distinct from the licensed fan-music platform ElevenLabs and Universal Music Group announced on September 10, which remains a future product.
