Google DeepMind has made Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar available in Gemini Enterprise, adding a streaming video persona to its live-dialogue models. The feature, announced on the company's blog on September 24, 2026, pairs near-real-time video generation with speech so that a conversational agent listens, sees, and speaks through a dynamic visual character with lip-syncing and facial expressions.

The launch builds on Gemini 3.8 Live, which DeepMind said went live the prior week. Beyond visual presence, the company describes asynchronous tool calling that lets the agent trigger background data lookups while maintaining an uninterrupted conversational flow. DeepMind states the feature supports native multilingual speech-to-speech synchronization across 97 languages, with lip-sync and expressions adapting as the conversation switches languages.

Organizations can select from a library of preset avatars or generate a custom avatar from a reference image. DeepMind notes that custom avatar creation is currently available only through enterprise allowlisting. All audio and video output is watermarked with SynthID, the company's content-provenance system.

Availability is limited to Gemini Enterprise at launch; DeepMind points customers to its API documentation for integration details. No pricing, geographic restrictions, or third-party benchmarks were disclosed in the announcement.
