GPT-6 Astra expands to GitHub Copilot and Vercel AI Gateway

GPT-6 Astra has moved beyond OpenAI’s own product rollout into two major developer distribution layers. GitHub says Astra is now generally available in GitHub Copilot, while Vercel has added the same model to AI Gateway. The change matters because developers can now use Astra inside existing coding-agent and model-routing workflows rather than depending only on direct OpenAI access.\n\nGitHub makes Astra available to Copilot Pro+, Max, Business and Enterprise users. It can be selected across VS Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, the Copilot coding agent and app, github.com, mobile clients, JetBrains, Xcode and Eclipse. GitHub says the model is billed at provider list pricing under usage-based billing; Business and Enterprise administrators can control access through Copilot model policies.\n\nVercel exposes the model as `openai/gpt-6-astra` through AI Gateway. That gives applications one gateway surface for calling Astra and lets coding-agent users connect tools such as Codex and Cursor through Vercel’s routing layer. Vercel positions Astra for long-running software engineering, computer/browser use, research and multi-step professional workflows.\n\nThese announcements do not resolve every access question around Astra. GitHub and Vercel are separate distribution surfaces with their own plan, billing and policy layers, and neither announcement should be read as proof that every ChatGPT or OpenAI API account has identical availability.
