GitHub Copilot rolls out Grok 4.7, xAI's latest reasoning model

GitHub's changelog on 21 September 2026 states that Grok 4.7 - the latest reasoning model from xAI - is now rolling out in GitHub Copilot. According to the vendor, the model builds on Grok 4.6 and is designed for agentic coding and complex, multistep workflows. The model is billed under provider list pricing using usage-based billing. Availability is limited to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise SKUs, and users can select the model via the model picker in Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, the Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud agent, the Copilot app, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse. Rollout will be gradual, so the model may not be visible to all users immediately. Enterprise and Business plan administrators can manage access through the model policy in Copilot settings; new models are enabled by default unless an administrator disables them. No independent testing or third-party verification of the model's performance is provided in the announcement.
