Notion released new model controls on September 9 that let workspace owners decide which AI models can be used by Personal Agent and Custom Agents. Administrators can manage the two agent surfaces separately and set a default model for Custom Agents.

Notion positions the controls as a way to keep model usage aligned with cost and compliance requirements as teams use multiple models inside agent workflows. The settings are available through the Notion AI administration area rather than being left entirely to individual users.

The release is documented in Notion’s official changelog and independently tracked by MegaChangelog. AiToolMap is treating the change as an administrative governance feature; it does not imply that every model has identical capabilities, data handling or pricing, and those characteristics still need to be evaluated separately.

For AiToolMap, this is a material Notion AI update because model choice becomes an organization-level policy rather than only a user preference. That affects how Business and Enterprise teams can standardize agent behavior, manage premium-model spend and constrain which providers are available in different agent workflows.
