Perplexity has expanded Advanced Deep Research beyond a conventional search-and-answer workflow. The updated mode can explore a wider set of web sources, work directly with uploaded documents and use a code sandbox for calculations and data analysis.
Users can now answer clarifying questions before a run, ask follow-ups while research is still underway and watch progress and key findings appear during execution. The final report is produced as an editable, shareable file rather than a fixed chat response.
The change makes Deep Research more useful for work that mixes web research, private documents and quantitative analysis. The main question for users is no longer whether Perplexity can produce a long report, but how reliably it chooses sources, handles conflicting evidence and uses code when the task requires it.
