Suno released its v6 family of music-generation models on September 9, developed with industry partners including Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe. The company says it will retire its previous models as the new generation rolls out.
The lineup has three tiers: v6 is the flagship model for Pro and Premier subscribers, v6-wild is a more exploratory paid model, and v6-mini is available to free users. Suno says the models improve control over vocals, instrumentation, structure and style while supporting more complex instructions.
v6 also expands editing and input options. Users can change a section of an existing song with natural-language instructions, combine material from multiple sources, isolate and sample elements, revise individual lyrics, and create from combinations of text, audio, images and video.
The release is notable because it is tied directly to Suno’s licensing partnerships with major music companies after a period of copyright disputes around generative music. Reuters reports that the new generation was developed under partnerships with Warner and BMG, while Suno says future products will include opt-in experiences in which participating artists can be compensated.
