Clockwork is a local-first macOS scheduler and supervisor for coding agents. Version 0.4.0 can book Claude Code, Codex CLI, OpenCode or Hermes Agent as one-off, recurring or webhook-triggered jobs; create per-run Git worktrees; enforce budgets, time and turn limits; require approvals; chain agents; produce reports and searchable transcripts; and optionally run jobs in Docker. Jobs run only while the Mac is awake. 12
Pricing & access
The personal tier is free for non-commercial use. Commercial use requires a written licence; provider/CLI usage is separately billed. Access is narrow: macOS 14+, Apple silicon and a supported agent CLI. 12
Evidence & trust
Clockwork documents per-run worktrees, macOS Seatbelt restrictions, denied credential paths, supervisor-enforced caps and fail-closed approval behavior. Sandbox runner components and tests are published separately, while the full application is not represented as open source. Releases publish checksums; the product documentation warns that builds are not reproducible and the current app is not Apple-notarised. 132
The fixed 50-source panel is now persisted as 44 NO_RELEVANT_RESULT and 6 INACCESSIBLE, with no eligible independent exact-product numeric evidence. Product Hunt corroborates launch identity but is not treated as quality or performance evidence. 4
Safety & Trust
Clockwork supervises coding agents that can modify repositories and execute tools, so blast-radius controls matter. Worktree isolation, credential denylists, hard budget/turn/time caps and fail-closed approvals are sensible controls, but buyers should still protect production credentials, require review for consequential changes and independently validate the downloaded build and sandbox assumptions before unattended use. 132
Who it's for
Who it is for
Clockwork best fits Apple-silicon Mac developers or teams that want recurring maintenance, review, testing, security or release chores to run with explicit budgets and approval rules. It is a poor fit for Windows/Linux-only teams, buyers requiring mature enterprise procurement, or organizations requiring independently audited assurance before unattended agent execution. 1
Strengths & weaknesses
Strengths
clear scheduling/orchestration primitives, agent choice, worktree isolation, fail-closed approvals, cost controls, local storage and searchable reporting.
Weaknesses
early maturity, macOS/Apple-silicon dependence, jobs need an awake Mac, commercial pricing by contact, non-notarised distribution and sparse independent exact-product validation. 12.
