Singapore Management University announced on September 9 that its Yong Pung How School of Law is joining Legora’s Legal AI Scholars Program, becoming the first university in Asia to participate. The partnership will give faculty access to Legora licenses and training before the platform is introduced progressively into courses and made available to students.
The program is designed to expose law students and faculty to the same agentic legal-AI workflows used in practice, including research, large-scale document review and drafting. SMU says faculty will be onboarded first with support from Legora’s Asia-Pacific legal engineering team and SMU Libraries, while individual courses will determine how the tools are incorporated into teaching.
The agreement also extends Legora’s broader push into legal education. Its program already includes several US law schools, while SMU has been expanding its own law-and-technology curriculum and research infrastructure. Legal IT Insider separately reported the Asian first and the planned faculty and student access.
For AiToolMap, this is primarily an adoption and distribution development rather than a product-feature launch. It shows Legora moving upstream into professional training, potentially familiarizing future lawyers with its research, review and drafting environment before they enter firms or in-house legal teams.
